Alibaba Cloud has been positioned as a Leader in the inaugural Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Cloud AI Infrastructure, placing it alongside Google, AWS, and Microsoft in the top-right Leaders quadrant.
The report, as of June 2026, is Gartner’s first to evaluate cloud AI infrastructure — defined as infrastructure optimized for AI model training, inference, and servicing. It assesses both hyperscalers and specialist providers.
Alibaba Cloud attributes the recognition to its full-stack AI strategy. The company said the positioning validates its capabilities spanning high-performance infrastructure to model and agent development platforms and pretrained foundation models.
At the infrastructure layer, PAI-Lingjun, its specialized compute platform, is optimized for large-scale training and inference workloads. On top of that, its Model Studio provides an enterprise-grade, one-stop platform for accessing its Qwen foundation model family, letting customers balance performance, cost, and deployment needs.
“As AI transforms how businesses operate, companies need reliable infrastructure to scale. We are committed to a full-stack AI cloud ecosystem,” said Dr. Feifei Li, CTO and President of International Business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. The company says its approach combines proprietary chips, cloud infrastructure, foundation models, and Model-as-a-Service with AI-native and agentic tools.
The momentum aligns with Alibaba Cloud’s “AI+Cloud” strategy. At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in July, the company unveiled a suite of agent-native technologies to accelerate AI agent development and deployment as enterprises scale generative and agentic AI.
In a separate evaluation, Alibaba Cloud was also named a Challenger in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms, which covers tools that monitor health, performance, and behavior of applications, infrastructure, and AI agents.
