Dugenia, Marayan & Associates Co. (DM&A Co.) has appointed John “JJ” Ibarreta as Communications Director, strengthening its leadership team as the agency expands its digital-first approach to marketing communications.
Ibarreta will help shape the agency’s strategic direction, lead communications and content development, and support client campaigns and proposals. He will also mentor team members and help ensure that the agency’s work meets client objectives and industry standards.
According to DM&A Co. CEO Michael Dugenia, Ibarreta’s appointment reflects his growth from a content and writing role into strategic planning, client management and leadership.
Expanding beyond traditional PR
Ibarreta began his career in public relations after moving from Iriga City, Camarines Sur, to Manila with aspirations of becoming a journalist. His first PR role at PRC, Inc. introduced him to strategic brand storytelling, eventually leading him to expand his expertise into campaign development, strategic communications and client relations.
At DM&A Co., he previously served as Head of Content and Strategic Planning, combining his editorial background with communications strategy. He is now entering his 11th year in the public relations industry.
As Communications Director, Ibarreta will focus on strengthening DM&A Co.’s digital-first strategy and integrating public relations, content, creative, strategy and digital capabilities.
The appointment comes as communications agencies increasingly adapt to digital platforms and changing audience behavior. For DM&A Co., Ibarreta’s expanded role is intended to support new approaches to digital communications while maintaining an emphasis on credible, meaningful and strategic storytelling.
