EastWest Investment Banking officers Mark Angelo Borreo and Jerome Antonio Lim (center) receive the award on behalf of EastWest during the PDS Awards 2026, recognizing the bank’s continued excellence in investment banking and capital market transactions.
EastWest’s Investment Banking team has received two industry recognitions for its role in major fundraising transactions, highlighting how financial institutions are leveraging capital market expertise and digital financial infrastructure to support business growth and broaden investment access in the Philippines.
The bank was named IPO Deal of the Year – Philippines by Asian Banking & Finance for its participation as a Domestic Participating Underwriter in the initial public offering (IPO) of Maynilad Water Services, Inc. EastWest was also recognized by the PDS Group as one of the Top 5 Corporate Issue Managers/Arrangers (Bank Category) based on its 2025 performance, marking its sixth consecutive year on the list.
The awards recognize EastWest’s contribution to helping companies raise capital through equity and debt markets while connecting issuers with institutional and retail investors.
One of the bank’s biggest milestones was its participation in Maynilad’s IPO, completed on November 7, 2025. The offering generated approximately ₱34.3 billion in gross proceeds, making it the second-largest IPO in Philippine history and the country’s largest since 2021. The offer was 2.7 times oversubscribed, reflecting strong investor demand.
According to EastWest, its investment banking team supported domestic and retail investor participation through its distribution network and client relationships, helping expand Maynilad’s shareholder base while supporting investments in long-term water and wastewater infrastructure.
Beyond equity offerings, EastWest continues to strengthen its presence in the debt capital market by advising companies on bond issuances and other funding transactions. The bank said its consistent ranking among the country’s top corporate issue managers reflects its commitment to delivering disciplined execution and strategic financial advisory services.
Rafael S. Algarra Jr., Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Financial Markets and Wealth Management, said successful capital raising depends on understanding clients’ long-term goals while bringing together the right investors and maintaining confidence throughout the transaction process.
As more Philippine companies turn to capital markets to finance expansion and infrastructure projects, EastWest said it will continue investing in its investment banking capabilities to help businesses access funding while creating more investment opportunities for the public.
