For Filipino Gen Zs, “adulting” increasingly involves using financial tools and digital services to balance everyday expenses with long-term goals such as financial independence, health, and homeownership.
Financial security remains a major challenge. A Deloitte global study found that 52% of Gen Zs live paycheck to paycheck, while 41% worry they will not be able to retire comfortably. In the Philippines, Boston Consulting Group reported that only 46% of Filipinos feel prepared for a financial crisis.
At the same time, young Filipinos are gaining greater access to formal financial services. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), financial literacy among Filipino adults rose to 74% in 2025 from 64% in 2021. The share of 15- to 19-year-olds with financial accounts—including bank accounts, e-wallets, and other transaction accounts—also increased from 27% in 2021 to 34%.
The figures point to a growing role for digital financial tools in helping younger Filipinos manage money, build savings, and plan for the future.
EastWest Ageas is positioning its Dream Builder protection solution as one option for Gen Zs seeking a structured approach to long-term financial planning. The product offers guaranteed 5% annual cash payouts and payment options of 10-Pay, 5-Pay, and 2-Pay, allowing policyholders to choose a payment schedule based on their priorities and budget.
For a generation navigating rising living costs alongside long-term ambitions, technology-enabled access to financial services and greater financial literacy are becoming important parts of the modern approach to “adulting.”
