Globe Telecom has teamed up with Grab to transform everyday ride-hailing trips into a powerful, real-world network analytics system across Metro Manila.
The collaboration leverages Grab’s driver-partner network to collect live connectivity data, giving Globe unprecedented visibility into how its mobile network performs under actual conditions—across varying routes, traffic flows, and times of day. Instead of relying solely on traditional testing methods, Globe is tapping into real user experiences to refine its infrastructure.
During the survey period, more than 100 Grab driver-partners gathered over 20,000 network samples, offering a “ground-truth” view of coverage and performance. The data enabled Globe to identify weak signal areas, assess high-traffic zones, and capture previously untested locations, all while benchmarking performance during real trips for greater accuracy.
The insights are expected to drive targeted network improvements that directly enhance everyday digital services—from booking rides to managing deliveries. The initiative also benefits driver-partners by improving navigation accuracy and overall app performance, resulting in a smoother and more efficient user experience.
According to Globe Vice President for Consumer Mobile Business Eric Tanbauco, the partnership provides critical real-world insights that help the company optimize its network where it matters most—on the ground.
By integrating mobility data with telecom analytics, Globe and Grab are advancing a more responsive and data-driven approach to connectivity, reinforcing the role of reliable mobile networks in supporting the Philippines’ growing digital economy.
