GoTyme Bank has become one of the first banks in the Philippines to directly integrate with the Philippine Statistics Authority’s National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS), enabling customers to open bank accounts without uploading or scanning physical identification documents.
The system-level integration allows users to verify their identity through the PhilSys ecosystem using a QR code from their physical, digital, or paper National ID, their PhilSys Card Number (PCN), or by providing their name and date of birth. The streamlined process enables customers to open a GoTyme Bank account in as little as five minutes.

The partnership marks a significant step in the use of digital public infrastructure to expand financial inclusion in the country. By connecting directly to government identity records, GoTyme Bank can verify customer information in real time, reducing friction in digital onboarding while enhancing security.
According to data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), about half of Filipino adults remain unbanked or underbanked, with the lack of valid identification among the key barriers to accessing formal financial services. While more than 94 million Filipinos have registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), many prospective users still encounter challenges during digital account opening processes that require document uploads and verification.
GoTyme Bank said the integration addresses this issue by eliminating the document capture requirement, making it easier for individuals to access banking services. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit unbanked Filipinos, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and residents in remote areas with limited access to physical bank branches.

“With our direct integration into the National ID Authentication Services, GoTyme Bank can verify a customer’s identity against official government records in real time, making account opening simpler, faster, and more secure,” said Shern Teo, Chief Strategy and Proposition Officer at GoTyme Bank.
The collaboration also highlights the growing role of digital identity platforms in accelerating financial inclusion and digital transformation. By leveraging PhilSys as an active authentication tool rather than simply a valid ID card, the initiative demonstrates how government-backed digital identity infrastructure can support broader access to essential financial services.
As adoption of digital public infrastructure expands, GoTyme Bank expects the integration to further simplify banking experiences while helping more Filipinos participate in the formal financial system.
