Happycash has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, aligning its information security framework with global standards as regulatory scrutiny and public concerns over data privacy and lending practices continue to grow in the Philippines.

The certification comes amid the rapid expansion of the country’s digital lending sector, now estimated at around ₱56 billion, driven by increasing demand for fast, mobile-based financial services. With over 76 million smartphone users nationwide, digital lending platforms have seen wider adoption as Filipinos seek more accessible credit options.

Beyond compliance, Happycash emphasized that its approach integrates both security and ethical lending practices. The platform is registered with relevant Philippine regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Privacy Commission (NPC), and operates under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173). Its system reportedly uses bank-grade encryption, multi-factor authentication, data minimization, and regular independent audits to strengthen data protection.

Happycash Head of External Affairs Rhonalyn Reyes said the certification reflects the company’s broader commitment to trust and borrower protection. “For us, trust is built not only through security, but through how borrowers are treated at every stage of the process,” she said.

The company also highlighted its strict stance against abusive lending practices, enforcing a zero-tolerance policy on harassment and unclear loan terms. It offers repayment support options for borrowers facing financial difficulty and promotes transparent pricing to avoid hidden charges.

To date, Happycash has served over 3 million users and facilitated more than ₱3.5 billion in loans, with around 30% of users being first-time borrowers. The platform also promotes accessibility through a simplified application process requiring just one valid government-issued ID, along with fast approvals and a limited-time 7-day interest-free loan offer for new users.

As the digital lending industry continues to grow, the adoption of international security standards like ISO/IEC 27001:2022 signals a shift toward stronger accountability, with platforms such as Happycash positioning themselves around both security compliance and responsible financial inclusion.
