AIA Philippines, The Medical City (TMC), ABS-CBN Foundation, and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan have expanded the Hope Mobi Clinic program to provide free breast cancer screening to 100 public school teachers in celebration of Teacher’s Month.

The mobile health initiative brings breast health services directly to communities, helping address barriers such as screening costs, travel time, and limited access to medical facilities.

Through the program, participating teachers received breast cancer screening in a mobile clinical setting, along with free blood type, blood pressure, and blood sugar testing from TMC. A grocery supply package was also provided by the local government unit.

The initiative was formalized through a ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing among the participating organizations, strengthening their commitment to expanding access to preventive breast health services.

Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the Philippines. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer’s Global Cancer Observatory, more than 28,000 new breast cancer cases were estimated in the country in 2024, accounting for 32% of all new cancer cases among Filipino women. The agency also estimated 11,160 breast cancer deaths that year.

The World Health Organization notes that early detection and timely diagnosis can help improve breast cancer outcomes, particularly in settings where access to screening and diagnostic services is limited.

“Early detection can change a patient’s health journey. Through Hope Mobi Clinic, we bring screening closer to communities so more women can take an important step toward protecting their health,” said Dr. Carlo Angelo Cajucom, Director of the Augusto P. Sarmiento Cancer Institute at The Medical City.

AIA Philippines and TMC have operated Hope Mobi Clinic since 2023, bringing mobile breast cancer screening and breast health education to underserved communities.

The latest collaboration highlights how mobile healthcare services and cross-sector partnerships can bring preventive health programs closer to communities, particularly for educators who may face practical barriers to accessing routine screening.
