Maya Business is enabling the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) to accept online payments for its National External Quality Assessment Scheme (NEQAS), helping laboratories nationwide complete regulatory-related transactions digitally.

Since August 26, participating laboratories have been able to pay NEQAS fees online through Maya Business Manager, reducing the need for in-person payments and helping streamline collection, tracking, and reconciliation.

The digital payment service is expected to benefit more than 6,000 laboratories participating in RITM’s quality-assurance programs across the Philippines.

NEQAS evaluates the quality and reliability of laboratory testing, with participation in applicable external quality-assessment programs required for laboratories securing or renewing their Department of Health (DOH) License to Operate.

Through Maya Business, RITM can accept digital payments while supporting multiple payment channels, including QR payments, e-wallets, bank transfers, and debit and credit cards.

The initiative also creates a foundation for RITM to expand digital payment services to other programs. For laboratories and healthcare institutions, moving payments online can reduce manual processing, queues, and travel requirements while making transactions easier to track.

The partnership reflects the growing use of digital payment technology to modernize government and public-health services, with Maya also working with other government institutions to digitize collections and improve transaction efficiency.
