NVIDIA is helping Japanese enterprises, startups, and research institutions build customized AI systems using open Nemotron models, enabling AI solutions tailored to local language, industries, and workforce needs.
NVIDIA announced that organizations across Japan are using NVIDIA Nemotron™ open models, datasets, and libraries to develop specialized artificial intelligence applications designed for sectors including telecommunications, manufacturing, energy, finance, and public services.
The initiative highlights the growing role of open AI models in enabling organizations to customize, deploy, and govern AI systems while maintaining control over their data and infrastructure.
Japanese organizations build localized AI solutions
Japan-based developers are adapting NVIDIA Nemotron technologies to address local requirements, including Japanese language understanding, industry-specific knowledge, and workforce challenges linked to an aging population.
The Institute of Science Tokyo developed its Swallow family of open foundation models using NVIDIA Nemotron datasets and the NVIDIA NeMo™ software stack. The models improve Japanese language and reasoning capabilities while maintaining performance in English, mathematics, and coding.
Meanwhile, SB Intuitions Corp., SoftBank’s generative AI research subsidiary, used NVIDIA Nemotron and NeMo technologies to train its Sarashina series of AI models. Its Sarashina3 mini model has been selected by Japan’s Digital Agency for specialized AI applications.
AI adoption expands across industries
Japanese companies are also applying Nemotron-based AI solutions to improve productivity and automate complex workflows.
- avatarin is developing Japanese-language AI agents using NVIDIA Nemotron, NVIDIA NeMo, NVIDIA HGX™ B300 systems, and NVIDIA Jetson™ platforms for enterprise and edge AI applications.
- ENEOS Holdings is using Nemotron alongside NVIDIA AI-Q Blueprint and NVIDIA ALCHEMI NIM microservices to accelerate energy and materials research through AI-powered document analysis and molecular screening.
- NTT DATA is using NVIDIA Nemotron-Personas-Japan datasets to improve its proprietary tsuzumi 2 AI model and develop multi-agent AI workflows.
- Hitachi is combining NVIDIA Nemotron and NVIDIA Cosmos™ open models with its IT and operational technology expertise to advance physical AI applications.
- Sakana AI is integrating Nemotron into its Fugu model orchestration platform to help AI systems select the most suitable models for specific tasks.
Open AI models support customization and deployment
NVIDIA said Nemotron models provide organizations with open weights, datasets, and development resources, allowing developers to customize AI models for specific business needs and deploy them across different environments.
Through NVIDIA NeMo, organizations can train, evaluate, and optimize AI models while meeting requirements related to security, regulation, and data localization.
The company said Nemotron models are available through platforms including Hugging Face, ModelScope, OpenRouter, build.nvidia.com, and NVIDIA NIM™ microservices.
