Have you heard the phrases “information at your fingertips” or “right at your fingertips”?
Both expressions highlight how easy it is to access information whenever you need it, with little effort.
The question now is: How can that information be collected, processed, and stored in a wearable device—such as a ring?
The rise of smart rings
Before smart rings came smartphones, followed by smartwatches.
In recent years, smart rings of every type, design, make, and brand have flooded the electronics, consumer, and health-tech markets. They all appear attractive, but it can be difficult to distinguish which ones offer real value and which are simply hype.
For first-time buyers, it is perfectly reasonable to approach them with skepticism. A smart ring is not for everyone. There is a learning curve and an adjustment period before it becomes part of your daily routine.
Rophie Salim Tact AI Smart Ring, Model IR008

AI Times recently tested the Rophie Salim Tact AI Smart Ring, Model IR008.
Rophie is a human-centric technology brand focused on “everyday health and well-being.” The smart ring functions as an intelligent wearable that monitors your body’s signals to help you better understand your health, movement, and rest. It is also designed to serve as a stylish lifestyle accessory.

The ring is lightweight, smooth, and ergonomically contoured. It feels natural on the finger—day or night—and is particularly comfortable while sleeping. The index finger is recommended for optimal data collection.
Wear the ring on a finger where it fits comfortably—not too loose and not too tight. Ensure the sensor faces the palm side of your finger for more accurate measurements. Keep in mind that if the fit is too loose, heart rate and blood oxygen readings may be less accurate.
When worn, the ring continuously tracks daily activity, movement, heart rate trends, skin temperature changes, sleep patterns, and stress indicators.

As an AI-powered wearable, the Rophie Salim Tact AI Smart Ring analyzes the patterns and raw signals collected throughout the day and transforms them into meaningful insights about your activity (steps), sleep quality, and overall well-being.
It is recommended that you wear the ring while sleeping. The longer it is worn, the more data it collects, enabling more comprehensive insights into your overall health and lifestyle.
App Features
After unboxing, download the Rophie-R app from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
For this review, we downloaded the app from Google Play. Make sure your device runs Android 5.0 or later, or iOS 10.0 or later. The smart ring supports Bluetooth 5.0.

Before first use, place the ring in the charging case to activate it. Connect the charging case to a USB-C cable and a 5V/1A USB power source. The green indicator light flashes slowly while charging and remains steadily lit once charging is complete.
The app includes the following features:
- Heart Rate and Blood Oxygen: Supports 24-hour automatic measurement (adjustable intervals), with daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Manual measurements can also be taken anytime through the app.
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Provides 24-hour automatic measurement (adjustable intervals), along with daily, weekly, and monthly HRV reports.
- Sleep: Automatically tracks sleep, including awake, REM, light, and deep sleep stages. The sleep summary includes total sleep time, sleep efficiency, time to fall asleep, and overall sleep quality.
- Activity: Tracks daily steps, distance traveled, and calories burned. Users can set personalized goals and monitor daily progress through daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports.
- Stress and Skin Temperature Trends: Offers 24-hour automatic monitoring (adjustable intervals) with daily, weekly, and monthly reports. The temperature feature tracks changes from your baseline rather than your actual body temperature.
- Blood Oxygen Saturation (SpO₂): Uses optical sensors to estimate blood oxygen saturation levels. Wear the smart ring throughout the day to monitor your SpO₂ trends.
