Samsung Philippines is calling on young Filipino innovators to use STEM and artificial intelligence to solve real-world community problems through the fourth Philippine edition of its Solve for Tomorrow competition.
Supported by the Department of Education (DepEd), the program is open to students in Grades 8 to 10 from government-managed Science High Schools nationwide. Now in its 16th year globally, the competition aims to help students turn technology-driven ideas into practical solutions with community impact.
This year’s competition features three themes: Environmental Sustainability through Technology, Social Change through Tech and Sport, and Solving Community Problems with AI. The AI-focused category encourages students to explore responsible and practical applications of artificial intelligence to address challenges in their communities.
Teams of up to four students, together with a teacher-adviser, can submit a STEM-based proposal addressing a community, social, or environmental challenge. Entries will be assessed based on innovation, community relevance, feasibility, STEM integration, sustainability, and clarity.
The submission deadline is November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The Top 10 teams will be announced on November 16 and receive mentoring from Samsung coaches before presenting their final proposals to judges on December 7. The top three winners will be announced on December 15.
Samsung is offering nearly ₱2 million in prizes across the competition. The Grand Prize package is valued at ₱730,000, followed by ₱595,000 for second place and ₱465,000 for third place, with additional cash prizes for the remaining Top 10 teams.
Past Philippine participants have developed technology-focused solutions addressing environmental and agricultural challenges. Last year’s winning team from Cavite Science Integrated School developed a solar-powered water-quality sensing buoy designed to monitor mangrove ecosystem health.
Through Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung is encouraging students to move beyond simply learning about emerging technologies and use STEM and AI to develop solutions that can create measurable impact in their own communities.
