More than 1,300 volunteers from TELUS Digital Philippines joined forces to help prepare Jacinto Zamora Elementary School in Manila for the upcoming school year as part of the company’s annual TELUS Days of Giving initiative.

The large-scale volunteer effort supported the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program and focused on improving the 105-year-old public school, which serves more than 2,000 students in Manila’s Pandacan district.

Volunteers repainted 71 classrooms, nine hallways, and eight staircases across three school buildings, refurbished over 1,120 student chairs, completed a mural project, and carried out repairs to roofing, windows, and classroom fixtures. Many participants joined the activity immediately after completing their work shifts.

The initiative marks TELUS Digital Philippines’ 12th year of participation in Brigada Eskwela. Over the years, more than 21,000 team members have contributed over 100,000 volunteer hours to refurbish and improve 15 public schools nationwide.

According to the company, the effort aims to help address learning environment challenges while supporting the Department of Education’s goal of preparing schools for students’ return to class. The activity also highlights the role of private sector partnerships and community volunteerism in supporting education infrastructure.

TELUS Digital Philippines is expected to conduct another Brigada Eskwela-related volunteer activity later this year in Iloilo City, where the company operates two sites.
