WalterMart Expands Brigada Eskwela Support to 150 Schools Nationwide

WalterMart employees participate in clean-up activities at Mamandil Elementary School as part of WalterMart Talavera’s support for this year’s Brigada Eskwela, helping prepare classrooms and school facilities ahead of the new academic year through volunteer efforts and community collaboration.

WalterMart has strengthened its community outreach efforts through its participation in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, supporting more than 150 public schools across North Luzon, South Luzon, and Metro Manila as part of the Department of Education’s nationwide back-to-school initiative.

The company mobilized customer donations, employee volunteers, and partner brands to help prepare schools for the new academic year. Through mall-led and community-based activities, WalterMart distributed school kits to Grade 1 students, benefiting thousands of learners in participating communities.

WalterMart’s Brigada Eskwela program has evolved significantly since it began in 2010 as a volunteer-led school cleaning drive. In 2021, the initiative expanded to include school kit distribution and has since grown into a nationwide campaign that has supported more than 1,100 schools and over 30,000 students.

This year’s campaign received support from partner brands including Nagaraya, CDO, Nissin, Presto, Alaska Milk, Similac, Monde Nissin, and Surf, helping provide educational supplies to young learners. Customers who participated also received Brigada Eskwela Thank You Cards with vouchers redeemable at WalterMart Supermarket, WalterMart Department Store, World of Fun, and Fun Time.

In addition to school kit distribution, WalterMart employees joined teachers, parents, and community volunteers in campus clean-up activities. The company also worked with partners Zonrox, Mortein, and Domex to provide cleaning materials for participating schools.

To enhance student safety, WalterMart installed pedestrian crossing signages, “Happy Back to School” signages, and safety bollards in selected schools to help create a safer environment for returning students.

The initiative highlights WalterMart’s continuing investment in education and community development, complementing its retail operations and ongoing efforts to support Filipino families beyond its stores.
