Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag, a new collaborative AI feature that enables teams to assign tasks to Claude directly within Slack, allowing the AI assistant to work alongside employees as a virtual team member.
Available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers, Claude Tag can be added to selected Slack channels where users simply tag @Claude to delegate tasks. The AI can access approved tools, enterprise data, and code repositories, then work asynchronously to complete assignments while providing updates in Slack threads.
Unlike traditional AI chatbots, Claude Tag maintains context by learning from conversations within authorized channels, enabling it to deliver more relevant responses over time. It can also proactively surface important information, follow up on unresolved discussions, and schedule long-running tasks that span hours or days.
Anthropic said the feature is already transforming its internal workflows, with approximately 65% of the company’s product team code now generated using its internal version of Claude Tag. Beyond software development, employees also use the AI assistant for customer support, product analytics, debugging, and operational tasks.
Administrators retain full control over security and governance by defining which channels, tools, and data Claude can access. Separate AI instances can be configured for different departments, ensuring that information remains isolated between teams while allowing organizations to monitor usage and manage spending.
Claude Tag replaces Anthropic’s previous Claude in Slack application and runs on the company’s Opus 4.8 model, marking another step toward AI-powered collaborative workspaces for enterprises.
