Cadence has announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud to integrate its ChipStack™ AI Super Agent with Gemini, marking a significant step toward agentic AI-driven semiconductor design. The partnership aims to deliver a scalable, cloud-native platform that enhances chip design and verification through advanced automation.

At the center of the collaboration is the Cadence ChipStack AI Super Agent, which combines agentic reasoning with Cadence’s electronic design automation (EDA) tools. By leveraging Gemini’s large language model capabilities, the platform enables up to 10x productivity gains across key workflows such as digital design, verification planning, regression management, and automated debugging.

According to Paul Cunningham, the integration represents a major leap in AI-powered design automation, blending LLM reasoning with established EDA engines to improve both efficiency and design quality. This approach reflects the growing shift toward “agentic design,” where AI systems actively assist and optimize complex engineering tasks.

A key innovation in the platform is its “Mental Model” technology, which enhances reasoning accuracy by aligning AI-generated outputs with Cadence’s native engineering tools. This helps ensure higher correctness in design processes while accelerating development timelines and reducing time to tapeout.

The solution runs on Google Cloud’s secure and elastic infrastructure, enabling high-performance computing for both AI reasoning and EDA workloads. With a “click-to-deploy” setup available via the Google Cloud Marketplace, engineering teams can more easily adopt AI-driven workflows without extensive infrastructure overhead.

The collaboration positions Cadence at the forefront of next-generation semiconductor design, as the industry increasingly embraces AI agents to tackle growing system complexity and accelerate innovation cycles.
