Canon brought back its flagship creative competition, Canon Photomarathon 2026, highlighting advancements in digital imaging and content creation technologies while fostering a growing creator ecosystem in the Philippines.

Held on April 18, 2026, at the BGC Amphitheater in Taguig, the event gathered over 1,200 participants who competed in photography and, for the first time, video categories—reflecting the industry’s shift toward hybrid visual storytelling. The competition’s theme, “Feel It,” challenged creators to produce emotionally compelling content using modern digital tools.

Civil engineer Von Cedrick Cunanan emerged as Grand Champion after capturing a powerful street photograph of a jeepney driver resting under the midday heat. The winning entry demonstrated how accessible camera technology and creative storytelling can elevate everyday moments into impactful visual narratives.

Cunanan, who previously used a Canon EOS RP, took home a Canon EOS R6 Mark III with an RF24-105mm lens—underscoring Canon’s push toward full-frame mirrorless systems designed for both enthusiasts and professionals.

Beyond the competition, the event showcased Canon’s latest imaging innovations through interactive zones such as the Creator Park, where attendees explored use cases like pet photography, cosplay, and bridal shoots. Workshops led by industry professionals covered topics ranging from wildlife and cityscape photography to content creation and video production using advanced camera systems.

Participants also experienced end-to-end imaging workflows, including instant printing via MegaTank printers—highlighting the integration of capture, processing, and output technologies within Canon’s ecosystem.

The revival of Photomarathon after a seven-year hiatus signals Canon’s renewed focus on community-driven innovation, as it expands support for creators adapting to evolving digital formats, including video and social media content.

By combining hands-on access to new technologies, educational sessions, and competitive platforms, Canon continues to position itself at the forefront of imaging innovation—empowering creators to harness both technical tools and storytelling skills in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
