Converge ICT Solutions Inc. serves as the official landing party in the Philippines for the Bifrost Cable Landing System. The Davao branch of the subsea cable made landfall in Davao in August 2025.

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. quickly stabilized its services following a submarine cable disruption between the Philippines and Singapore by rerouting international traffic through alternative network paths, including the newly deployed Bifrost international cable system.

Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said the company experienced minimal disruption to residential and enterprise services despite the incident, although some customers encountered difficulties accessing applications and websites hosted in Singapore.

The incident highlighted the importance of international network redundancy as demand for connectivity, AI applications, and cloud computing continues to increase.

“We have planned our investments in these international cable systems as early as five years ago precisely in anticipation of these incidents,” Uy said, noting that Converge’s investments in Bifrost and SEA-H2X provide additional international network capacity and alternative routes.

Bifrost expands international capacity

The Trans-Pacific Bifrost Cable System spans more than 20,000 kilometers, connecting the Philippines with Singapore, Indonesia, Guam, and the United States.

The system has a design capacity exceeding 240 terabits per second (Tbps). Converge serves as the Philippine landing party through its landing station in Davao and owns one fiber pair in the trunk.

Meanwhile, the 6,000-kilometer SEA-H2X submarine cable connects Hong Kong and Hainan in China with the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. It has a system design capacity exceeding 200 Tbps.

Converge is part of the SEA-H2X consortium, alongside China United Network Communications Group Company Limited and China Mobile International.

According to Uy, these investments have helped strengthen Converge’s international network resilience while providing additional capacity for growing digital workloads.

“With the current high demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, international data traffic will just continue to rise,” Uy said.

The company said it will continue investing in international cable systems and data centers as demand grows, supporting its vision of positioning the Philippines as a digital gateway between Asia and the rest of the world.
