Eastern Communications’ Gear Up: Powering the Digital Backbone of Regional Economies, held in Cebu in May 2026, brought together businesses and industry stakeholders to discuss connectivity, digital transformation, and regional growth.

Eastern Communications is expanding its engagement with businesses and industry communities across the Visayas, highlighting the role of connectivity, AI, cloud adoption, and digital infrastructure in helping regional enterprises improve resilience and support growth.

Throughout 2026, the telecommunications provider has engaged businesses and industry stakeholders in Cebu, Iloilo, and Boracay, with discussions focused on network resilience, emerging technologies, and the evolving digital requirements of businesses outside Metro Manila.

“Being present in these communities allows us to listen more closely to our customers and understand what matters to their businesses,” said Edsel Paglinawan, Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer of Eastern Communications.

Connectivity and AI adoption take center stage

Eastern Communications participated in several regional business and technology events, including Gear Up Cebu, the 35th Visayas Area Business Conference in Bacolod, and AI Fest in Iloilo.

At AI Fest, Eastern Segment Marketing Manager Richmond Bayocot emphasized that AI adoption requires reliable technology infrastructure capable of supporting how AI tools are integrated into everyday business operations.

The company also engaged Cebu’s manufacturing sector through the MEPZ-PMA 10th Suppliers’ Expo 2026, where manufacturers, procurement teams, and business leaders explored AI and emerging technologies. Eastern highlighted how digital solutions and reliable network infrastructure can help streamline processes and support technology adoption.

The company’s regional activities also extend to the hospitality and tourism sector, including engagements with industry stakeholders in Boracay and Cebu. Discussions have focused on how technology can support operational efficiency and business growth in the sector.

At the Cebu Business Month 2026 Technology & Innovation Forum, Paglinawan highlighted the importance of turning innovation into practical solutions that address real business requirements.

“Innovation is most meaningful when it goes beyond ideas and translates into solutions that address real business needs,” Paglinawan said.

Building digital resilience beyond Metro Manila

Eastern Communications is also showcasing regional communities through its Dare To Discover docuseries. Its Dumaguete episode explores how connectivity and technology can help local businesses and communities create opportunities, reach wider audiences, and promote local tourism.

The company’s growing presence in the Visayas reflects its High Tech, High Touch approach, combining digital infrastructure with on-the-ground engagement and collaboration.

As businesses outside Metro Manila accelerate digital transformation, Eastern Communications said connectivity can serve as an enabler for operational continuity, technology adoption, and long-term growth.
