Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has strengthened its intra-Asia logistics network with a new dedicated non-stop freighter service connecting its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, to Sydney, Australia, enabling faster cargo delivery from the Philippines and other key Asian markets.

Operating five times a week using Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, the new route is expected to reduce transit times by up to one day for select shipments. Philippine exporters can now send eligible cargo to Australia in as little as two business days, improving supply chain efficiency and responsiveness to market demand.

The enhanced service also supports shipments from Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, providing businesses across the region with greater access to the Australian market.

According to FedEx, the new routing offers faster fulfillment, increased capacity for heavy-weight and high-value shipments, and stronger opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) trade growth as intra-Asia commerce continues to expand.

“The new Guangzhou–Sydney service marks a meaningful advancement for Philippine businesses looking to grow their presence in the Australian market,” said Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines. She noted that faster transit times can help exporters respond more quickly to customer demand and strengthen their competitive position.

The service comes as intra-Asia trade continues to gain momentum, with FedEx reporting double-digit year-on-year revenue growth across the region in 2025. As businesses increasingly regionalize supply chains and prioritize resilience, efficient air cargo connectivity has become a critical component of trade and logistics operations.

The Guangzhou–Sydney route is part of FedEx’s broader investment strategy to expand intra-Asia connectivity, which also includes dedicated Guangzhou–Penang cargo flights, additional freighter services between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and improved outbound links from Hanoi to South Korea.

By enhancing regional air freight infrastructure, FedEx aims to support growing cross-border trade and help businesses tap new market opportunities across Asia-Pacific.
