Garmin has unveiled three new running-focused smartwatches in the Philippines — the Forerunner 70, Forerunner 170, and Forerunner 170 Music — aimed at helping runners improve training, monitor health, and stay connected through advanced wearable technology.

The new smartwatch lineup combines AMOLED displays, built-in GPS tracking, health monitoring tools, and AI-driven training features designed for both beginner and experienced runners.

According to Susan Lyman, the new Forerunner series integrates premium running and wellness capabilities from Garmin’s higher-end devices while remaining accessible to aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

The Garmin Forerunner 70 includes built-in GPS, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, adaptive Garmin Coach training plans, daily suggested workouts, advanced sleep tracking, HRV status monitoring, Pulse Ox tracking, and over 80 sports applications. The smartwatch also introduces quick workout recommendations tailored to a user’s fitness level and preferred intensity.

Meanwhile, the Garmin Forerunner 170 adds Garmin Pay contactless payment support, enabling users to make purchases directly from their wrist. The feature is expected to become available in the Philippines soon.

For users who prefer phone-free workouts, the Garmin Forerunner 170 Music supports onboard music downloads from third-party streaming services, allowing playback through wireless headphones during runs.

Battery life varies by model, with the Forerunner 70 offering up to 13 days in smartwatch mode, while the Forerunner 170 and 170 Music provide up to 10 days.

Garmin said customers in the Philippines can now pre-order the devices through Kinetic and Garmin’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok ahead of the official June 3 launch. Pricing starts at PHP 15,990 for the Forerunner 70, PHP 19,290 for the Forerunner 170, and PHP 22,290 for the Forerunner 170 Music.

The launch highlights Garmin’s continued push into the growing fitness wearable and smart health technology market, where consumers increasingly seek devices that combine athletic performance tracking, wellness monitoring, and connected lifestyle features.
