Lenovo has released its FY2025-26 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, reporting significant progress toward its long-term sustainability goals while emphasizing the growing role of artificial intelligence in advancing environmental and social initiatives.
The technology company said it remains on track to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with more than 90% of electricity used across its global operations now sourced from renewable energy through onsite generation, power purchase agreements, and renewable energy certificates.
Lenovo also reported major advances in circular economy initiatives under its R.E.A.L. Framework, with 100% of its PC products now incorporating post-consumer recycled content materials, excluding tablets and accessories. Since 2005, the company has enabled the recovery of more than 800 million pounds (363 million kilograms) of end-of-life products and reused 300 million pounds of recycled plastics.
A key focus of the report is the responsible use of AI to support sustainability. Lenovo said it is using AI to improve sustainability data collection and analysis while supporting industry initiatives such as the ITU AI Skills Coalition and the Coalition for Sustainable AI. The company also highlighted AI-powered projects including heart arrhythmia prediction for athletes, accessibility tools featuring sign language translation and communication avatars, and global AI skills programs delivered with nonprofit partners.
Beyond environmental initiatives, Lenovo reported that its philanthropy programs have positively impacted more than 25 million people between 2021 and 2026 by expanding access to technology and digital education. The company also noted continued progress in workplace diversity and inclusion, earning recognition from organizations including EcoVadis, CDP, Corporate Knights, Gartner, and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
The report underscores Lenovo’s strategy of combining AI innovation with sustainable business practices as it prepares a new generation of ESG targets focused on responsible growth and smarter technology.
