Lenovo and DreamWorks Animation are expanding their long-standing technology partnership, providing the computing, workstation, data center, and infrastructure technologies supporting the studio’s increasingly complex animation workflows.
The collaboration includes Lenovo workstations, high-performance computing infrastructure, data center technology, and services designed to support DreamWorks’ artists and technical teams as they develop animated worlds and characters.
The technology partnership also supports Forgotten Island, DreamWorks Animation’s new original feature inspired by Filipino culture, mythology, and experiences.
The film follows lifelong friends Jo and Raissa, who are transported to the fantastical island of Nakali, where magical creatures and stories rooted in their Filipino heritage become part of their adventure.
Technology behind animated storytelling
DreamWorks expanded its relationship with Lenovo in 2025, naming the company its preferred compute services, workstation, and solutions provider.
Lenovo infrastructure supports the large-scale computing requirements involved in modern animation production, while high-performance workstations help creative and technical teams handle demanding production workflows.
According to Lenovo Philippines President and General Manager Michael Ngan, the technology is designed to give creators the performance and reliability they need while allowing them to focus on storytelling.
DreamWorks Animation SVP for Technology Communications and Strategic Alliances Kate Swanborg said producing animated films requires a technology foundation capable of keeping pace with the creative ambitions of artists and storytellers.
For Forgotten Island, that technology infrastructure helps support the creation of a digitally rendered world inspired by Filipino culture and mythology.
The partnership illustrates how high-performance computing and professional workstations have become essential components of modern digital content production, enabling animation studios to process increasingly complex environments, characters, visual effects, and production workloads.
With Forgotten Island bringing Filipino-inspired storytelling to a global audience, Lenovo’s technology partnership with DreamWorks also highlights the role of computing infrastructure in transforming culturally rooted creative concepts into large-scale digital productions.
