Maya is calling on employers in the Philippines’ information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector to make employee financial health part of their digital transformation strategies by connecting payroll systems with savings and responsible credit services.

Speaking at the International IT-BPM Summit 2026, Maya Bank President Angelo Madrid said investments in technology and workforce skills can be complemented by digital financial services that help employees manage everyday expenses, build savings, and prepare for unexpected costs.

According to the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), the IT-BPM sector supported 1.9 million workers and generated more than US$40.3 billion in revenue in 2025, equivalent to about 8% of the country’s GDP.

Digital payroll meets financial services

Maya is working with IBPAP and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies to expand employee access to digital financial services while modernizing payroll, disbursement, and reimbursement processes.

Through Maya Business, companies can digitally distribute salaries and other employee payments at scale. The approach can reduce manual administrative work and provide businesses with greater visibility over employee payouts, particularly for organizations operating across multiple locations and shifts.

For employees, salary payments can be received and managed through the Maya app, connecting payroll with everyday payments and banking services.

Maya Savings, Personal Goals, and Time Deposit Plus provide options for setting aside money, while eligible customers can access credit products subject to assessment and applicable requirements.

AI becomes part of fintech operations

Madrid also pointed to the growing intersection of financial services, technology, and artificial intelligence as the IT-BPM industry moves toward higher-value work.

Maya develops and manages its core technology in-house and applies AI across credit assessment, fraud prevention, personalization, and operations.

The integration of these technologies allows financial platforms to automate and support different parts of the customer and banking experience while maintaining processes for assessing eligibility and managing risk.

For employers, Maya said the opportunity extends beyond digitizing salary payments. Connecting payroll with financial tools can provide employees with access to savings and other services through the same digital ecosystem where they receive and manage their income.

Financial wellness as part of digital transformation

Maya’s initiative positions digital payroll as more than an administrative function, linking employer payment infrastructure with employees’ broader financial-management needs.

As the Philippine IT-BPM sector expands into more specialized and higher-value services, the company said organizations will increasingly need teams that combine financial expertise, technology capabilities, and sound judgment.

“Progress should mean more businesses using digital financial tools and more employees able to save, meet their obligations and prepare for unexpected expenses,” Madrid said.

The initiative reflects a broader shift in enterprise technology toward integrated digital services, where payroll, payments, banking, and financial-management tools can operate within connected platforms.
