PLDT and Smart Communications reinforced their commitment to digital inclusion by equipping Filipino entrepreneurs with practical digital skills during a learning session held at the University of the Philippines Diliman as part of the 8th BUYanihan sa Diliman.
Organized by the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry–E-Commerce Bureau (DTI-ECB), the session gathered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for discussions on content creation, social media marketing, e-commerce, and cybersecurity.
The training forms part of PLDT and Smart’s #KonektedForLivelihoods program, which aims to help entrepreneurs maximize digital platforms to grow their businesses while promoting safe online practices.
PLDT and Smart Assistant Vice President for Stakeholder Engagement Management Stephanie Orlino said meaningful connectivity goes beyond internet access by providing communities with the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s online economy.
DTI-ECB emphasized the importance of empowering MSMEs to promote Filipino-made products through digital platforms, while UP ISSI highlighted the growing role of social media in expanding business opportunities.
Participants said the workshop provided practical insights on using e-commerce to reach more customers and reinforced the importance of staying vigilant against online scams and phishing attacks.
Through initiatives like #KonektedForLivelihoods, PLDT and Smart continue supporting MSMEs by enhancing digital literacy, strengthening cybersecurity awareness, and enabling entrepreneurs to compete in an increasingly digital marketplace.
