Rakuten Viki is expanding its Chinese drama lineup with Overdo, a Republican-era romance starring Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan, following the strong global performance of Love for You on the streaming platform.
Love for You ranked No. 1 in weekly viewership on Viki across multiple regions during its premiere week and remained among the platform’s top two most-watched titles throughout its simulcast run. The performance highlights the growing international audience for Chinese dramas and their emotionally driven storytelling.
Now streaming on Viki, Overdo shifts from the contemporary setting of Love for You to Republican-era Shanghai. The series follows Murong Qing Yi, a doctor scarred by childhood abuse and betrayal, and Ren Su Su, an orphan with secrets of her own. Their romance is disrupted by a series of tragic events, leading to separation, false accusations and a reunion three years later under dramatically different circumstances.
