Rakuten Viki is expanding its Korean drama catalog with A Bona Fide Killer, a new action-thriller series that combines espionage, family drama, and mystery in a story adapted from a popular Kakao webtoon.
The series follows Yoo Bo-na, portrayed by acclaimed South Korean actress Kong Hyo Jin, a seemingly ordinary wife and mother who secretly operates as “Kingfisher,” a legendary sniper working for a covert organization tasked with eliminating dangerous criminals. Her carefully hidden double life begins to unravel when her husband, journalist Kwon Tae-seong, starts investigating the mysterious assassin.
Based on a Kakao webtoon that has accumulated more than 180 million views, the drama explores the challenges of balancing family responsibilities with high-risk missions, blending action-packed sequences with emotional storytelling.
The series marks the highly anticipated television return of Kong Hyo Jin, known for leading roles in popular Korean dramas such as Master’s Sun, It’s Okay, That’s Love, and When the Camellia Blooms. She stars alongside Jung Jun Won, whose recent performance in Resident Playbook helped expand his international audience.
The production is directed by Yoon Jong Ho, known for his work on acclaimed dramas including Flower of Evil and Lovely Runner. The cast also features veteran actors Sung Dong Il and Lee Sang Yi.
Rakuten Viki said the addition reflects the platform’s continued investment in bringing diverse Asian content to audiences across Southeast Asia. The company noted that genre-blending Korean dramas remain a key driver of the global Hallyu wave, attracting viewers seeking stories that combine action, romance, suspense, and emotional depth.
A Bona Fide Killer premiered exclusively in Southeast Asia on July 31 and joins Rakuten Viki’s growing collection of webtoon-based adaptations.
