Roblox announces new cross-platform gaming, AI creation, offline play, and monetization tools as the platform marks its 20th anniversary.
Roblox is expanding its gaming platform with new tools designed to give creators more ways to build, distribute, and monetize games across devices, while making experiences more accessible to players.
The announcements were made at the 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) in San Mateo, California, where Roblox outlined updates across three areas: Play, Build, and Grow.
Under Play, creators will soon be able to launch Roblox games as standalone apps for mobile, PC, and consoles. Roblox also plans to enable browser-based gaming through Chrome by the end of the year, allowing players to launch games directly from an Experience Details Page without installing the Roblox app.
The platform is also adding single-player and offline sessions, which can be combined with online modes within the same game. New development support includes 2D and puzzle game formats, while a new Friends chat tab will allow players to stay connected across games.
For creators, Roblox is expanding its AI-powered Build tool, which allows developers to create games using prompts. The tool is moving into public alpha in Singapore and Serbia after launching in New Zealand. Roblox said creators have published approximately 9,000 games using Build, with 71% coming from first-time Roblox Studio users.
Roblox also plans to introduce Scene Generator, a prompt-to-scene feature for Build and Studio, alongside expanded NPC capabilities, including NPCs that can playtest games.
On monetization, Roblox announced the Roblox Wallet, a financial account that will allow eligible creators to earn in real currency, receive daily payments, and move funds. The feature will initially roll out to eligible U.S. creators aged 18 and above later this year, with a global expansion planned for 2027. A connected Roblox Card is planned for next year.
The company is also expanding game discovery through its Moments video feature and an updated Discovery Ranking system designed to account for different player engagement patterns.
The announcements come as Roblox celebrates its 20th anniversary, with additional activities including the Roblox 20 Classic Mode and UGC items, the 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards, and The Hunt: Roblox 20, running through September 28.
