Ford appoints Tim Wels as managing director of Ford Philippines, succeeding Pedro Simoes and leading the company from November 2026.
Ford Motor Company has appointed Tim Wels as managing director of Ford Philippines, effective November 1, 2026. He will succeed Pedro Simoes, who is returning to the Middle East.
Wels will relocate to Manila and report to Andrew Birkic, vice president of Sales and Service for Ford’s International Markets Group (IMG).
In his new role, Wels will oversee Ford’s Philippine operations, with responsibilities spanning business growth, customer ownership and aftersales experience, and relationships with dealer partners.
The leadership transition comes as Ford Philippines expands its vehicle lineup and aftersales infrastructure, following the launches of the refreshed Ranger and Everest, the Territory Hybrid Platinum, and new facilities including a Parts Distribution Center and Learning Center.
Wels joined Ford Australia in 2008 and currently serves as general manager for Marketing and Strategy. During his career with Ford, he has worked across retail, product and brand marketing, vehicle launches, customer experience, marketing communications, and business strategy.
“With a proven track record of driving profitable growth, enhancing brand value, and leading high-performing cross-functional teams, I am confident that Tim will be able to lead the team and work together with our dealer partners to further strengthen the Ford brand in the Philippines,” said Birkic.
Wels said he looks forward to working with Ford employees, dealers, and partners in the Philippines as the company prepares for its 30th anniversary in 2027, supported by a new vehicle lineup and enhanced ownership offerings.
