Alibaba Cloud has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Generative AI Model Providers and the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Strategic Cloud Platform Services.
The recognition highlights Alibaba Cloud’s focus on combining generative AI models with cloud infrastructure to support enterprise AI deployments.
At the core of its AI portfolio is the Qwen family of multimodal models, available in both open-source and commercial versions. Its latest release, Qwen3.8-Flash, is an open-weight multimodal Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model with a 125-billion-parameter main model and six billion activated parameters per token.
Alibaba Cloud said it has open-sourced more than 460 AI models, which have generated more than 300,000 derivative models and accumulated over three billion downloads globally.
The company’s AI capabilities are supported by its global cloud infrastructure, which currently spans 106 availability zones across 31 regions. Its AI+Cloud strategy brings together computing infrastructure, proprietary silicon, foundation models, and applications within a full-stack ecosystem.
For hybrid deployments, Apsara Stack extends public cloud capabilities into private environments, allowing enterprises to run AI training and inference workloads across core, edge, and on-premises locations.
Gartner estimates that the global generative AI model market reached $13 billion in 2025 and projects it to reach $139.2 billion by 2030, reflecting the growing demand for foundation and specialized AI models.
Alibaba Cloud was also recognized last month as a Leader in Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Infrastructure, adding to its positioning across the AI model, cloud platform, and infrastructure layers.
