Funcom’s open-world survival game Dune: Awakening has entered Head Start on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, bringing a major update and a year’s worth of improvements to console players ahead of its official September 22 release.
The console launch includes the game’s latest update as well as content and enhancements introduced during its first 15 months on PC. The update adds a full single-player mode, expanded story content, gameplay customization, and performance improvements.
Players can adjust settings such as harvesting rates, experience gain, and death penalties, while the game’s revamped endgame introduces new missions and progression systems, including Augmentations and Specializations.
The update also expands the game world with new maps, dungeons, weapons, dynamic encounters, and refined combat. PvP is now optional, allowing the full game to be played in a PvE environment.
On PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, players can choose between Performance Mode at 60 frames per second with Dynamic 4K and Quality Mode at 30fps with Dynamic 4K. PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X also receive higher native resolution and enhanced visuals in Quality Mode.
The console version supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing progression to carry over between Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, ROG Xbox Ally, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Cross-play is planned for a post-launch update.
Dune: Awakening will also join Xbox Game Pass on September 22, while PC players can purchase the game on Steam at a 50% discount through October 8.
Funcom said the game has reached 189,000 concurrent players on Steam and became its fastest-selling title following its PC launch.
