BDO emerged as the most frequently first-mentioned bank in AI-generated answers across four tested question categories in the Philippines, while BPI achieved the broadest overall visibility in business banking, according to the PRecious AI Authority Index: Southeast Asia Banking 2026.
Released by integrated communications consultancy PRecious Communications, the study examines how artificial intelligence platforms present banking brands in their responses to consumer, business, and trust-related queries. The research was conducted using PRecious Pulse, the agency’s proprietary measurement and research platform.
The findings highlight a distinction between how often a bank appears in AI-generated answers and how prominently it is positioned.
In business banking, BPI appeared in 96% of AI-generated answers, while BDO was mentioned first in 75% of responses. In consumer banking, BPI achieved 73% answer visibility, while BDO recorded a 31% first-mention share.
“The Philippine result makes the distinction very clear: visibility and prominence are different jobs,” said Paolo Alba, regional vice president and Philippines country lead at PRecious Communications. He emphasized the importance of understanding not only whether a brand appears in AI responses but also how it is described and what information supports the narrative.
PRecious Communications founder and Group CEO Lars Voedisch cautioned that a first mention should not be interpreted as an endorsement or an indication of customer preference. Instead, it reflects the order in which brands appear in AI-generated responses.
AI-driven brand visibility varies across Southeast Asia
The regional study covers Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. It found that AI-generated responses can vary across markets because of differences in language, banking structures, customer needs, and publicly available information.
The report advises communications and marketing teams to look beyond a single AI platform, dashboard score, or generic brand search when assessing digital reputation. Understanding the context, evidence, and positioning behind AI-generated answers can provide a more comprehensive view of how brands are represented online.
The findings are diagnostic rather than a ranking of bank quality, trustworthiness, safety, customer preference, or financial performance. The results reflect a point-in-time snapshot from August 2026 and may change as AI services, search systems, and publicly available information evolve.
