Global cybersecurity firm Fortinet warned that growing cybersecurity complexity and AI-driven threats are making it harder for organizations across Asia Pacific to defend their digital environments effectively.

During the Fortinet Accelerate APAC Philippines Edition 2026 held at Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, company executives emphasized the need for unified security platforms powered by AI, automation, and integrated visibility.

Rashish Pandey, vice president for marketing and communications at Fortinet APAC, said fragmented security environments can limit the effectiveness of AI in cybersecurity operations. “Integration is what enables AI to operate at scale and deliver real security impact,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Fortinet Philippines Country Manager Bambi Escalante noted that organizations are struggling with disconnected security tools, limited visibility, and overwhelming alert volumes, making threat detection and response more difficult.

Fortinet also shared findings from a new Forrester Consulting study involving 585 cybersecurity decision-makers across Asia Pacific. The report revealed that 57% of respondents consider AI-driven threats a major concern, while 54% cited fragmented tools and architectures as key cybersecurity challenges.

The study also found that:

  • 50% struggle to identify real threats because of high alert volumes
  • 48% still depend on manual cybersecurity workflows
  • Only 16% of organizations have reached advanced cybersecurity maturity levels
  • Despite growing interest in platform-based security strategies, companies continue to face barriers such as migration costs, operational disruption, and uncertainty around platform capabilities.

Fortinet said integrated cybersecurity platforms combining networking, AI-driven intelligence, and automation are becoming increasingly important as enterprises modernize their digital infrastructure — Edison Ong
