Manulife Philippines receives international and local recognition for financial literacy, environmental initiatives and longevity-focused communications.
Manulife Philippines has received international and local recognition for initiatives focused on financial literacy, environmental sustainability, community development and longevity planning for Filipinos.
The company was named Champion of Sustainable Community Impact Asia 2026 by Capital Finance International (CFI.co), which cited Manulife Philippines’ integrated approach to financial education, environmental restoration and community development. It also received a Philippine Quill Award for its communications campaign on evolving Filipino perspectives on longevity and financial preparedness.
Financial literacy meets environmental restoration
A key component of Manulife Philippines’ community programs is Peso Smart, a financial literacy initiative launched in 2017. The program has reached more than 4,000 learners across 18 public elementary schools, with assessments reporting improvements in knowledge of budgeting, insurance and financial safety, as well as saving and spending habits.
In 2026, the program expanded through a partnership involving the Haribon Foundation and the Corazon Sanchez Atayde Memorial Foundation, connecting financial education with environmental restoration and livelihood resilience.
Manulife also reported that its Impact Forests initiative supported the planting of more than 31,000 seedlings, including 5,000 mangroves, across Quezon and Zambales through the end of 2025.
The company plans to expand Peso Smart to 26 schools in 2026 and 30 schools in 2027.
Data-driven approach to longevity
The Philippine Quill recognition focused on Manulife Philippines’ campaign, “Filipinos’ Evolving View on Longevity: Accelerating Longevity Thought Leadership in the Philippine Life Insurance Sector.”
The campaign drew on findings from the Asia Care Survey 2025 and Manulife’s #FYP: Future-Proofing Young Pinoys study to examine changing attitudes toward aging, including financial independence, health, well-being and purpose.
Research insights were translated into digital content, social media storytelling, earned media, stakeholder engagement and live events. One centerpiece was Time to Move: The Manulife Longevity Symposium, which brought together healthcare experts, industry leaders, customers, advisers, partners and media to discuss health, financial well-being and resilience.
The initiatives demonstrate how research, data and digital communications can be used to connect financial education with broader conversations around health, longevity and community resilience.
