From disaster risk reduction and agriculture to environmental monitoring, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) continues to harness satellite data and space technology to support national development and improve public services across the country.

The Philippine Space Agency has successfully passed its first ISO 9001:2015 surveillance audit while also receiving a “Very Satisfactory” rating from the Department of Budget and Management for Fiscal Year 2025, reinforcing the agency’s focus on operational excellence and technology-driven public service.

According to Gay Jane P. Perez, the achievements highlight PhilSA’s commitment to strengthening systems and processes that support the country’s growing space science and technology initiatives.

The ISO 9001:2015 surveillance audit, conducted by TÜV Rheinland, confirmed that PhilSA’s Quality Management System remains compliant with international standards across several key operational areas, including space science and technology applications, research and development, education, policy coordination, and international cooperation.

Auditors also recognized PhilSA’s collaboration with stakeholders in delivering space data and services that support national programs, along with its performance monitoring systems aligned with government oversight requirements.

PhilSA originally secured its ISO 9001:2015 certification in May 2025 through the Government Quality Management Program led by the Development Academy of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, DBM awarded PhilSA a 4.02 “Very Satisfactory” score in its Annual Agency Performance Report (AAPR) for FY 2025. The evaluation measured the agency’s operational management, fiscal accountability, and efficiency in delivering public services.

DBM also commended PhilSA for consistently exceeding physical targets since its establishment in 2021 and for timely submission of reports in compliance with government auditing and budget regulations.

The agency said the recognitions reflect its ongoing efforts to responsibly manage public funds while expanding the use of space technologies and data services for national development.
