Salesforce has introduced Slack Code and dedicated code channels, a new collaborative environment that brings AI coding agents directly into Slack so teams can build, review and test software together.
Available across all Slack plans, Slack Code enables teams to work with AI coding agents including Anthropic’s Claude Code, Cognition’s Devin, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Vercel agents from a shared workspace instead of separate browser tabs or developer environments.
Code channels organize development into dedicated tabs for team conversations, an AI agent’s action plan, line-by-line code differences and a live preview of the running application. This allows developers and non-technical team members to monitor AI-generated work, provide feedback and identify issues in real time.
The platform is designed to shift AI-assisted software development from an individual workflow to a team-based process. Product managers, designers and marketers can participate in development tasks, review AI-generated output and guide agents on routine fixes and other projects.
Slack Code also incorporates human oversight and enterprise controls. Team members can pause, redirect or stop an AI agent during a task, while human approval is required before agents push final changes to production.
Another feature automatically creates a project-based code channel when an AI agent is tagged in a conversation. Completed project channels can be archived while retaining a searchable record of the work and its context.
Salesforce said Slack Code is built around flexible APIs and supports leading AI coding agents, with plans to expand access to custom enterprise agents for functions beyond software development.
By bringing AI coding, code reviews, live previews and team discussions into one platform, Slack Code aims to reduce context switching and help organizations turn AI-assisted development into a collaborative enterprise workflow.
Availability: Slack Code and code channels are available today across all Slack plans. Access to third-party AI agents requires separate subscriptions or access to those services.
