The IEM Cologne Major 2026 is set to bring together the world’s top Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) teams, with reigning champions Team Vitality entering the tournament as the clear favorites to claim another Major title.

Scheduled from June 2 to June 21, the tournament features a $1.25 million prize pool, with the champion taking home $500,000. The competition will begin with three Swiss-system stages before moving into a single-elimination playoff bracket where every match becomes do-or-die.

Team Vitality heads into Cologne in dominant form after winning both CS2 Majors in 2025 and securing five major tournaments this season. Led by superstar AWPer Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, the French organization is aiming to continue its remarkable run and cement its place among Counter-Strike’s greatest teams.

Several teams are expected to challenge Vitality’s dominance. Ukrainian powerhouse NAVI arrives with renewed confidence after integrating rising talent Drin “makazze” Shaqiri and seeing AWPer Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov earn his first MVP title earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Team Falcons boasts one of the most star-studded rosters in CS2, featuring Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, and Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin. The organization recently added veteran in-game leader Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen in hopes of converting strong performances into championship victories.

Another major contender is Team Spirit, which has regained momentum following roster changes and recently captured the PGL Astana 2026 title. Much of the team’s success continues to revolve around star player Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets, widely regarded as one of the best CS2 players in the world.

Other teams expected to make deep runs include The MongolZ, Aurora, FURIA, MOUZ, PARIVISION, and FUT Esports.

With 32 teams competing and the world’s best talent on display, IEM Cologne 2026 is expected to be one of the biggest esports events of the year, as organizations battle for one of Counter-Strike’s most prestigious trophies.
