Globe has expressed support for the Department of Education’s DepEd Order No. 006, s. 2026, which promotes the responsible use of digital devices in schools while allowing gadgets for educational purposes and emergencies.

The telecommunications company said the policy aligns with its advocacy of creating a safe and balanced digital learning environment as technology and artificial intelligence become increasingly integrated into education.

Globe emphasized that protecting children online should go hand in hand with equipping them with digital skills for the future. The company advocates a multi-stakeholder approach that combines stronger platform safeguards, parental guidance, digital literacy, privacy protection, and responsible technology use.

According to Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto, connectivity should empower students while encouraging responsible online behavior.

Globe noted that the new DepEd guidelines are consistent with international recommendations from organizations such as the United Nations, UNICEF, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which support child online safety through age-appropriate safeguards, digital literacy, and family engagement rather than relying solely on device restrictions.

To reinforce digital citizenship, Globe continues to expand its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), which has reached more than 2 million Filipino students since 2016. The company also promotes safer internet use through its #MakeITSafePH campaign and Online Safety Glossary, while collaborating with government agencies and industry partners to combat online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

Globe said creating a safer digital ecosystem requires sustained collaboration among technology companies, educators, parents, government, and communities to ensure Filipino learners can safely benefit from AI, connectivity, and digital innovation.
