If you are a content creator, then this smartphone is not for you.
But… there is a however. If you want an alternative unit for basic tasks with long-lasting battery power, then you might consider the HONOR X6e.
It is a dependable phone for students, first-time and entry-level workers, and app-centric delivery riders aged 16 to 35. Likewise, it can serve as a secondary phone for parents, teachers, and small-business proprietors aged 30 to 55.
An HONOR Media Fact Sheet that contained the age demographic underscored: “HONOR X6e is an all-around smartphone with strong battery life and dependable performance for everyone. Fit to match the needs of consumers to enable their lifestyle and power through everyday tasks.”
In the box
A sealed HONOR X6e box contains a brand-new phone with a Li-ion polymer battery, an HONOR SuperCharge standard 45W charger, Type-C USB 2.0 cable, eject pin, protective case, Quick Start Guide, and Warranty Card.
There are two colors to choose from: Sunrise Gold (Hero Color) and Midnight Black. I recommend the Sunrise Gold so you can easily identify it as a secondary phone.
There are two SIM card slots with space for nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. While it has no radio feature, listening is possible thanks to the 3.5 mm earphone jack. You have to buy headphones separately. For PC data synchronization with a computer, you need to install HONORSuite.
The main features to enjoy are: 1) the 7,500mAh long-lasting battery and wired charging support of up to 45W (11V/4.1A) SuperCharge; 2) the AI Ultra-clear camera; and 3) 5-Star SGS Premium Drop Protection using aluminosilicate glass.
Approximately 207 grams, the budget smartphone HONOR X6e has a 6.61-inch TFT LCD display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and HD+ (720 x 1604 pixels) resolution. All of these are packed into a 163.9 x 75.9 x 8.29 mm form factor.
Cameras
As I mentioned earlier, this is not for established content creators. The camera features are intended for new and entry-level users who are fine with settling for “can do,” “passable,” “manage your expectations,” and the like.
Although it has AI technology integrated into its camera system, do not expect outstanding AI-enhanced photographs and videos.
The HONOR X6e’s 50MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture) and auxiliary lens are located on the rear. The front camera is a 5MP selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture). The pixel output varies depending on the photo and video modes. Up to 1080p video recording is supported on both the front and rear cameras.
Performance engine platform
The Turbo X performance engine technology in the HONOR X6e consists of the AI Hybrid-Core Scheduling Engine, AI Hyper Memory Engine, Interactive Effect Engine, and GPU Acceleration Engine.
AI Hybrid-Core Scheduling Engine – With AI-powered system resource management, this engine intelligently perceives usage scenarios and tasks.
AI Hyper Memory Engine – Powered by online AI learning and user behavior prediction, this engine maximizes memory allocation efficiency and cache hit rate.
GPU Acceleration Engine – With dual architecture for unified rendering and Vulkan API for GPU acceleration, this engine delivers faster GPU rendering, lower power consumption, and longer battery life.
Wireless emergency alerts
There was a strong typhoon at the time AI TIMES reviewed the HONOR X6e. The constant typhoon emergency alerts from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council worked on the HONOR X6e.
When you are roaming or do not have an active SIM, you may receive alerts that are not included in the phone’s settings.
You may activate Extreme and Severe alerts for threats to life and property, as well as AMBER alerts for child-abduction emergency bulletins. You may also choose to receive them through vibration or an alert reminder.
You may also send an Emergency SOS. Press the power button five times in quick succession to automatically send an SOS message or place an emergency call with your current location to your emergency contacts. These services require internet access and permission.
