Wise is expanding its digital financial infrastructure in the Philippines with new features designed to make receiving, spending and moving Philippine pesos easier for people and businesses managing money across borders.

The fintech company said the changes reflect the growing number of Filipinos earning, working, studying and traveling internationally. An OCTA Research Q1 2026 survey cited by Wise found that 81% of young Filipinos are willing to live and work abroad, highlighting the growing demand for financial services that can operate across currencies.

At the center of Wise’s Philippine expansion is its direct connectivity to domestic payment networks, including InstaPay and PESONet. The integrations allow Wise to provide faster domestic peso transactions while connecting them to its broader cross-border financial platform.

PHP account details enable local payments

Wise is expanding access to PHP account details, allowing Filipinos living overseas and Wise users globally to receive Philippine peso payments without opening a traditional local bank account or visiting a physical branch.

Users can share their PHP account details with employers, clients, friends or family, who can then send PHP payments through InstaPay or PESONet.

The feature builds on Wise’s existing account-details capability for currencies such as USD, GBP and AUD and is aimed particularly at users with international financial needs, including freelancers, expatriates and families managing money between countries.

Wise adds QR Ph for everyday payments

Wise is also enabling customers to use QR Ph to make everyday payments in the Philippines directly from their Wise balance.

Customers can scan participating QR Ph merchants and pay using PHP or another currency held in their Wise Account. This could be particularly useful for international travelers who want to make local purchases without opening a Philippine bank account or e-wallet.

For Filipino freelancers and other users receiving international payments, Wise also allows them to set an Auto Conversion target rate, enabling foreign-currency earnings to be converted to PHP based on their preferred rate and subsequently used for local spending and bills.

The move effectively positions Wise as a digital bridge between international income and everyday Philippine payments.

Businesses can receive up to ₱500,000 through InstaPay

Wise is also increasing the payment capacity available to its Business Account customers.

Eligible businesses can now receive up to ₱500,000 in real-time domestic PHP payments through InstaPay for Business. Wise said the capability is powered by its direct connection to InstaPay and is intended to help small businesses improve cash flow for expenses such as payroll, inventory and supplier payments.

“Managing international money is becoming an everyday reality for many Filipinos as they increasingly live and do business across borders,” said Areson Cuevas, Country Manager of Wise Philippines.

Building a local digital payments infrastructure

Wise launched in the Philippines in 2024 with its Wise Account and Card and has since expanded its local infrastructure.

The company gained direct access to InstaPay in November 2024, followed by its connection to PESONet in April 2025. Wise also says it can directly settle through the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ PhilPaSS Plus system.

The fintech subsequently expanded its offering with PHP account details and Wise Business, while its Wise Platform partnership with GoTyme Bank allows customers to send money to more than 200 countries and territories through the GoTyme Bank app.

Wise says its Philippine services are licensed and regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Globally, Wise reports 15.6 million active customers, up 21% year over year. It says 70% of its payments are completed instantly, in less than 20 seconds, while 96% are completed within 24 hours.

The company’s expanding integration with Philippine payment infrastructure illustrates how fintech platforms are moving beyond traditional remittance services toward interoperable, digital-first financial ecosystems that allow users to receive, convert, spend and transfer money across borders through a single platform.
