Trip.com Group is strengthening its sustainability strategy across employee wellbeing, climate action and tourism innovation, while introducing a new global paid paternity leave policy and a USD 100 million Tourism Innovation Fund.

The travel technology company outlined the initiatives in its 2025 Sustainability Report, structured around its “Friendly Four” framework: family-friendly, community-friendly, environmentally-friendly and stakeholder-friendly.

The report highlights how technology, digital travel platforms and partnerships can support a more inclusive and sustainable tourism ecosystem.

Trip.com expands digital support for employees and travellers

Trip.com Group has introduced a global policy providing eligible employees with a minimum of 20 days of paid paternity leave, supplementing statutory entitlements in local markets.

In the Philippines, eligible employees will receive 13 additional fully paid days, bringing the minimum entitlement from seven to 20 days. The first phase of the policy took effect on August 1 across selected Asian markets, with additional regions expected to join later this year.

The company also reported that its Childcare Subsidy has supported 2,038 families since launch, including 1,114 employees in 2025, with approximately USD 1.6 million invested during the year.

Women currently represent 33.1% of Trip.com Group’s senior management positions, 52.3% of management roles in key revenue-generating functions and 33% of STEM-related positions.

Technology makes travel more accessible

Trip.com Group is also using digital technology to make travel more accessible through its “Trip for Everyone” initiative.

The project includes improvements to the travel planning and booking experience, including better colour contrast, scalable typography, screen-reader compatibility and keyboard navigation.

The initiative received an iF Design Award for helping travellers with different physical and situational needs navigate travel experiences with greater independence.

The company also upgraded its Global SOS Platform in 2025 to support 24 languages and 20 travel emergency scenarios. The platform handled more than 23,000 assistance requests across more than 100 destinations by the end of the year.

AI and technology support lower-carbon travel

Trip.com Group’s sustainability strategy also extends to the environmental impact of digital travel services.

The company became the first online travel company in Asia Pacific to have both its near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Its platform also expanded lower-carbon travel options across accommodation, flights, car rentals and rail.

In 2025, 2.74 million users selected lower-carbon business travel options, generating 23.44 million lower-carbon travel bookings during the year.

These efforts point to an emerging role for travel technology platforms in helping consumers and businesses make more environmentally conscious decisions at the point of booking.

USD 100 million fund targets tourism innovation

Trip.com Group is also investing directly in new tourism technologies and business models.

The company launched its USD 100 million Tourism Innovation Fund at its 2025 Global Partner Conference to support innovative tourism projects and cross-sector collaborations focused on destination development and new visitor experiences.

By the end of 2025, Trip.com Group offered more than 350,000 in-destination experiences worldwide, including dining, shopping, tours, attractions, performances and customised travel experiences.

The company said these offerings help connect local businesses and tourism providers with travellers while creating additional opportunities for destination economies.

“Travel connects people, cultures and communities, and we believe the future of travel must also create positive outcomes for the planet and society,” said Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group.

“Through our sustainability strategy, we are investing in our people, accelerating climate action and working with partners worldwide to build a more resilient tourism ecosystem.”

As travel increasingly becomes a technology-driven experience, Trip.com Group’s latest sustainability initiatives show how digital platforms can extend beyond booking and transactions to influence accessibility, emergency support, environmental choices and the development of local tourism economies.
