Epson is positioning document scanning and Heat-Free printing technologies as practical tools for Philippine healthcare facilities moving toward electronic medical records (EMRs) and more efficient clinical workflows.
As hospitals and clinics process patient registrations, laboratory results, prescriptions, and medical records, manual paperwork remains a source of administrative delays. Epson said its latest scanning and printing solutions can help healthcare workers digitize records at the point of care while reducing printing costs and energy consumption.
The Epson WorkForce DS-790WN standalone scanner is designed for nurses and front-desk personnel who need to convert physical documents into digital records without relying on a dedicated computer terminal. It features a 4.3-inch touchscreen and scanning speeds of up to 45 pages per minute, with documents sent directly to network folders or cloud databases.
The scanner also includes security authentication features designed to help protect sensitive patient information during document transmission.
For clinics that still require physical prescriptions and medical documents, the Epson EcoTank L15160 provides high-volume printing with up to 7,500 black pages per ink set. Its DURABrite pigment inks are water-resistant, helping keep prescriptions and medical forms legible when exposed to liquids.
At the facility level, Epson’s WorkForce Enterprise and WorkForce Pro business inkjet copiers use Heat-Free Technology, which the company says can consume up to 85% less electricity than traditional laser copiers. The technology also reduces the need for replacement parts and toner-related consumables.
The solutions are aimed at supporting healthcare providers as they adapt to digital health initiatives, including the Department of Health’s Philippine Digital Health Strategy and PhilHealth’s YAKAP primary care program, which call for greater use of electronic medical records.

Epson said combining high-speed document digitization with energy-efficient printing can help healthcare institutions reduce administrative workload, manage operating costs, and improve patient service.
