Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 opened with a strong focus on how emerging technologies can strengthen trust in governance, business, and the digital economy during its flagship “Future of Trust: A Leaders Forum on Technology and Governance.”
Held on June 19 at the SMX Convention Center, the forum gathered senior officials from government agencies, regulators, financial institutions, telecommunications companies, cybersecurity firms, and technology organizations to discuss how blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity can improve transparency, public services, and digital resilience.
One of the event’s major highlights was the introduction of the Integrity Chain initiative, a collaboration between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP), and industry partners. The initiative aims to leverage blockchain technology to enhance accountability, transparency, and public trust in government systems.
The forum also featured the signing of the Integrity Chain Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by representatives from the DICT, Department of Budget and Management (DBM), BCP, and Fintech Alliance Philippines, underscoring public-private sector cooperation in advancing trusted digital governance.
DICT Undersecretary David Almirol emphasized that emerging technologies have moved beyond experimentation and are now entering large-scale deployment, while Blockchain Council of the Philippines Chair Donald Lim stressed that countries capable of building trust through technology will gain a competitive advantage in the digital economy.
