A new study commissioned by Boomi and conducted by Omdia reveals that while Philippine organizations are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence (AI), many still lack the data infrastructure and governance frameworks needed to maximize returns on their AI investments.

The survey, which gathered insights from more than 1,100 senior technology and business leaders across the Asia-Pacific region, found that 73% of Philippine organizations are already running active AI initiatives, closely matching the regional average of 74%. Additionally, 90% believe AI-powered automation will significantly transform business operations within the next two to three years.

The Philippines stood out for its focus on AI performance measurement, with 50% of organizations already establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) for AI projects—the highest rate among all surveyed markets and well above the regional average of 37%.

Despite strong adoption, challenges remain. Only half of Philippine organizations currently use an integration platform-led strategy for managing AI and data workflows. However, 93% plan to move toward a unified, AI-ready enterprise platform, while 92% are seeking ways to reduce technology and tool sprawl to improve efficiency and lower operational risks.

Data governance emerged as a critical concern. Nearly all respondents (97%) believe AI initiatives will increase the importance of data quality and governance. While 57% have implemented formal AI-specific governance policies, almost 90% reported that unmanaged shadow integrations are already affecting data quality and confidence.

The study also highlighted growing concerns around data sovereignty. More than eight in 10 organizations (82%) expressed concerns about data residency and sovereignty requirements, although only 35% said these issues currently have a significant impact on their AI or data integration strategies.

According to Boomi, organizations that fail to connect data, applications, and business processes across the enterprise risk limiting the effectiveness of AI initiatives. The report suggests that unified platforms, stronger governance, and integrated data architectures will be key factors in transforming AI ambitions into measurable business outcomes.

The findings underscore a broader trend across the Philippines: while AI adoption is accelerating, organizations must strengthen their data foundations to fully realize the technology’s potential and achieve sustainable ROI.
