As digital fraud threats continue to rise in the Philippines, fintech platform Salmon has introduced enhanced security features designed to proactively protect users from unauthorized access and financial scams.

Unlike traditional fraud detection systems that respond after incidents occur, Salmon’s security framework focuses on preventing attacks before they succeed. According to Salmon Co-founder Raffy Montemayor, the platform was built to stop fraud in the background while providing customers with greater control over their accounts.

Among the new capabilities are real-time device monitoring, allowing users to view all logged-in devices, their approximate locations, and recent activity. Customers can instantly terminate suspicious sessions and monitor where their Salmon card is linked across apps and online services.

The fintech app also offers instant card freezing, permanent card blocking, and one-time virtual cards for safer online transactions. To combat increasingly common malware attacks, Salmon can detect malicious apps that attempt to intercept one-time passwords (OTPs) or gain unauthorized access to users’ devices, automatically warning customers or temporarily restricting sensitive account activity when necessary.

To strengthen account protection, Salmon requires live facial verification for critical transactions such as fund transfers, ensuring that intercepted OTPs alone cannot be used to take over customer accounts.

Additionally, high-risk transactions are verified through in-app fraud confirmation, enabling users to approve or report suspicious activity within minutes without calling customer support or visiting a branch. The company also maintains a 24/7 anti-fraud team that provides human assistance and investigative support for complex fraud cases.

With cyber threats becoming more sophisticated, Salmon said its multi-layered security approach aims to deliver proactive, customer-focused protection for digital financial services in the Philippines.
