Samsung Electronics has launched the new Samsung 990 SSD, a high-performance storage solution designed for gamers, content creators, and PC users handling demanding workloads.
Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the Samsung 990 SSD uses PCIe 4.0 NVMe technology and Samsung’s latest NAND innovations to deliver faster data access, smoother gaming performance, and improved productivity. The 2TB model offers sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s, while the 1TB version reaches read speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s.
The SSD is built to support large applications, high-resolution media files, and modern AAA games. The 2TB model can store up to 30 large games based on an average game size of 64GB, making it suitable for users managing increasingly large digital libraries.
Samsung also highlighted improved energy efficiency, with the new 990 SSD delivering up to 38% better power efficiency compared with the previous 990 PRO model. This allows users to maintain high performance while reducing power consumption.
The drive is supported by Samsung Magician Software, which provides features such as data migration, drive health monitoring, performance optimization, and data protection.
The Samsung 990 SSD will launch globally starting July 15, 2026, and will soon be available in the Philippines with suggested retail prices of ₱19,075 for 1TB and ₱37,678 for 2TB through Samsung’s official online stores and partner retailers.
