Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is strengthening enterprise fraud prevention with GSMA Certification for its SIM Swap and Device Swap APIs, adding network-powered identity signals to its SmartSafe NetIdentity solution under PLDT Enterprise.
The APIs enable businesses to check whether a mobile number has recently undergone a SIM swap or whether its SIM has been moved to another physical device. These signals can help organizations identify potential account takeover and unauthorized activity before completing high-risk logins or transactions.
The technology provides an additional layer of security beyond traditional authentication methods such as one-time passwords (OTPs). Banks, fintech firms, e-commerce platforms, gaming services, and other digital businesses can use the network-based information to assess transaction risk and trigger additional verification when necessary.
Smart said the certification builds on its earlier GSMA certifications for Number Verification and RoamStatus, reinforcing its development of standardized, network-powered APIs for enterprise customers.

SmartSafe NetIdentity is part of the broader SmartSafe suite, launched in 2025 as a telco-enabled fraud management API solution. Through GSMA-aligned technologies, Smart and PLDT Enterprise aim to help businesses strengthen digital identity protection as fraud threats become increasingly sophisticated.
