The Esports Foundation has announced the appointment of more than 700 Game Coaches representing over 100 nations and territories for the upcoming Esports Nations Cup 2026 (ENC), signaling a major step toward structured, nation-based esports competition.
Set to debut in Riyadh from November 2 to 29, 2026, the ENC introduces a global framework where countries field official national teams. The newly appointed coaches—drawn from over 90 leading esports organizations—will oversee roster selection, strategy development, and competitive readiness ahead of the May 10 deadline for team lineups.
The масштаб of the initiative underscores a growing shift toward formalized esports ecosystems, where national representation and structured pathways mirror traditional sports models. According to EF CEO Ralf Reichert, coaches are central to building credibility and identity for teams, helping transform esports into a more accessible and organized global competition.
The Philippines is strongly represented in the coaching lineup, reflecting its rising influence in competitive gaming. Local coaches will lead teams across major titles, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, Valorant, Dota 2, League of Legends, and PUBG Mobile. The country’s participation highlights its deep talent pool and expanding esports infrastructure.
Internationally, the coaching roster also features high-profile cross-border appointments, including Fabian Hällsten leading the United States’ Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege team, emphasizing the ENC’s global collaboration and talent exchange.
With coaches now in place, the focus shifts to player selection and qualification. The ENC will utilize open qualifiers for both solo and team-based titles, reinforcing inclusivity and competitive accessibility. This system aims to bridge grassroots esports scenes with the global stage, creating new opportunities for emerging players.
As the ENC builds toward its inaugural event, the initiative represents a significant evolution in esports—combining national pride, structured competition, and scalable talent development into a unified global tournament model.
