Financial institutions are increasingly turning to shared intelligence and technology to strengthen fraud detection as digital threats become more interconnected and sophisticated.

The Fraud Intelligence Data Sharing (FIDS) Network brings together financial institutions and other stakeholders to share fraud intelligence and provide participants with broader visibility into emerging threats.

The network is supported by public- and private-sector partners including BDO, RCBC, GoTyme, SB Finance and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

The need for greater information sharing was discussed at CIBI Impact 2026, where industry leaders examined how financial institutions can improve fraud prevention as scams increasingly move across banks, fintech platforms and other digital services.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas General Counsel Atty. Roberto L. Figueroa said institutions may have strong internal controls but lack visibility into fraud patterns that span multiple organizations.

Technology is adding another layer of complexity. Deepfakes, phishing, identity theft and mule accounts are giving fraudsters new ways to impersonate users, bypass controls and scale attacks.

According to GBG’s 2026 Fraud Survey, 73% of financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region are using behavioral analytics for fraud risk management, while 64% have adopted unified fraud platforms.

CIBI Information Inc. President and CEO Pia Arellano emphasized the importance of analyzing behavior over time and across the financial ecosystem rather than relying solely on individual transactions or credentials.

The FIDS Network aims to address these information gaps by enabling participating institutions to exchange intelligence and identify fraud patterns that may not be visible within a single system.

As financial services become increasingly interconnected, shared data, identity intelligence, behavioral analytics and AI-enabled technologies are becoming important tools in detecting threats that cross organizational boundaries.
