Grab Philippines has introduced Grab for Family, a feature that allows teenagers aged 13 to 17 to book rides independently while giving parents real-time visibility and additional safety controls.
The feature links teens to a Family Account, enabling parents to receive automated trip updates, track rides through a live map, and communicate with both the teen and driver through the app. Parents can also receive alerts for unexpected stops or route deviations.
Grab for Family combines several safety technologies, including Ride PIN for driver-passenger verification, 3-Way Chat for shared communication, and AudioProtect, which uses encrypted audio recordings that can only be reviewed by Grab’s safety team when a formal safety report is submitted. The service also works with Grab’s Safety Center and Emergency Help functions.
Grab said sign-ups for Family Accounts in the Philippines have more than doubled over the past year, with family members taking about 70% more rides during their first month after joining.
Parents can activate Grab for Family through the existing Grab app by inviting a teen using their mobile number or a unique invitation link. Once linked, families can also share payment methods and manage available safety settings.
